The resurgence of sustainable tanning: How TORRAS and VEGBIKER are leading the future of fashion
In a world where fashion and sustainability often seem to travel separate paths, it demonstrates that the fusion of tradition, style, and respect for the environment is not only possible, but the only way forward. Our recent appearance on RTVE's Flash Moda program perfectly embodies this evolution: a journey that honors our origins and firmly embraces innovation.
From the origins in Caldes to the International conquest
The story of TORRAS is the story of a passion that began in a humble garage in Caldes de Montbui. Since the early days between sewing machines and overcoats, the Catalan company has maintained a clear international vocation. It was in the 60s that we marked a turning point by combining knitwear and leather, a unique identity that completely differentiated us in the fashion industry.
After the global difficulties of the pandemic, in 2020 we began a new stage under the leadership of our CEO, Sonia Caballero. A restructuring that not only seeks to keep the house's historical DNA alive, but also to actively lead the paradigm shift in the leather fashion industry globally.
"We are committed to the zero-kilometre concept, adapting flexibly to the needs of each market and expanding responsibly." > — Sonia Caballero, CEO of TORRAS.
VEGBIKER: Innovation and circular economy in leather jackets
Our last great revolution is called VEGBIKER. This new line of jackets represents a milestone in the circular economy, demonstrating that high-end leather goods can be sustainable:
- Recovered animal skin: We reuse a waste generated by the food chain, transforming what would be discarded into an exclusively designed garment.
- 100% vegetable tanning: We replace traditional chemical processes with vegetable tanning based on the natural tannins of the bark of the trees.
- Recycled components: From zippers and snaps to linings and labels, every detail of VEGBIKER jackets is made from 100% recycled materials.
A future benchmark for Spanish fashion
With this proposal, TORRAS not only seeks to preserve its artisanal legacy, but also to reposition itself strongly in key markets such as South America, the United States, Canada, Asia and Europe.
Through constant reinvention, avant-garde design and an unwavering commitment to the planet, we continue to demonstrate that Spanish fashion has everything it takes to be the maximum benchmark for style and sustainability on the international scene.
